I’m Moving!

February 1, 2013

By: Staci Stallings

movingSorry I seemed to disappear in December.  The move was supposed to be quick and painless. It was not.

But finally my new site is up and running….

http://www.stacistallings.net

The Spirit Light Blog is moving to the new site as well (this blog will stay here but will no longer be updated, and all of the posts from here have been moved to the new site as well).

You can see the new Spirit Light Blog at:

http://www.stacistallings.net/category/spirit-light-books/

I believe I have fixed it so most of my followers will automatically be switched over, but if you stop getting the feed, just go to the new site and sign back up on the left side!

I sincerely hope this move will be my last for a long, long time.  It brings my varied and various blogs and websites under one roof… FINALLY!

Thanks for sticking with me, and starting Monday, we will resume talking about the song, “The Well” like the last two months never even happened. 🙂

Sincerely,

Staci Stallings

The Next Big Thing

December 5, 2012

by:  Staci Stallings

This is so fun!

In a few seconds I’m going to share with you my Next Big Thing, but first thanks to Gail Pallotta, who’s one of my writer friends on the ‘Net for tagging me in the Next Big Thing blog hop!  This is the Next Big Thing blog hop in which you get to hop back and forth through the posts to find new and exciting authors and books.  Some authors will share upcoming books, some will share already released books, others will give you a peek into their current work in progress!  So hop around and enjoy all of the excitement!

Now, I’m here now to answer…

10 Questions about My Next Big Thing

And then stick around at the end for a great opportunity and more fantastic blogs!

Hope you have fun…

What is the working title of your next book?

My next big thing will be coming out in February.  It’s called “Eternity.”

Freddie Prinze Jr. as Aaron Foster

Where did the idea come from for the book?

Many years ago I was on a message board for a show that was very popular at the time but the series was ending. There was one actor I just LOVED on the show.  He had an emotional depth that for a young man was astounding.  Then one night I went to a movie and there was a guy in the movie that just captivated me.  Back on the message board, I was expounding on how fantastic these two guys were, and someone said, “Someone should make a movie with the two of them in it.”

Well, I had already written 7 full-length novels to that point, and I WAS inspired.  30 days later, “Eternity” was finished.

What genre does your book fall under?

Contemporary Inspirational Fiction (great story, great message, not overtly Christian)

Which actors would you choose to play your characters in a movie rendition?

Well, THAT’S easy!  The lead role of Aaron Foster is played by Freddie Prinze Jr.

Rider Strong as Drew Easton

Aaron’s best friend, Drew Easton is played by Rider Strong.

And Mena Suvari is Harmony Jordan.

Mena Suvari as Harmony Jordan

What is the one-sentence synopsis of your book?

He set her up with his best friend, then fell in love with her. Now what?

Will your book be self-published or represented by an agency?

It will be published through Spirit Light Books as all of mine are.

How long did it take you to write the first draft of your manuscript?

30 days.  Fastest one I ever wrote, and you will probably read it that fast as well.  It kind of grabs hold of you and won’t let go!
What is unique about this book?

This is the love triangle that will rip your heart out and stomp on it… in a good way.  You’ve got Aaron, the nice above-average, completely clueless guy.  You’ve got Harmony, the love-struck girl next door who Aaron sees as his best friend in the world but nothing more than that.  And then you’ve got Drew who you will absolutely fall in love with and then hate everyone else for what’s about to happen.

What else about your book might pique the reader’s interest?

They say that nice guys finish last, but what happens when you’ve got TWO nice guys, and only one can win the girl’s heart?

Do you have anything to keep us entertained while we wait?

I certainly do…

TO PROTECT & SERVE

Romance of the purest and sweetest kind…”

Houston firefighter, Jeff Taylor is a fireman’s fireman. He’s not afraid of anything, and no situation is too dangerous to keep him on the sideline if lives are at stake.

Lisa Matheson runs a semi-successful ad agency that’s on the brink of falling apart. Her employees are incompetent and her schedule has become exhausting. When she takes on a client with a brilliant idea for a big conference, she thinks that maybe, finally this is her lucky break. However, the fire station wasn’t what she had in mind for finding conference speakers. When she falls for a handsome but shy firefighter, it’s possible that life might just be going her way for a change. The only problem is she can’t quite get control Jeff and the death wish he seems to have…

“Staci Stalling is like an artist, and she really paints a beautiful picture. There are few books that can glue me to my seat and with every Staci Stallings’ book, I am glued. In ‘To Protect and Serve,’ you will smile with them, get angry with them, and you’ll also cry when the characters are hurting. In this novel, Staci shows that love does not only encompass emotion, but to love, we need to trust, to accept and in some instances, surrender.”

Progress

February 20, 2012

by:  Staci Stallings

Consider this a progress report on my writing/publishing life.

First off, God has blessed me with an amazing cover designer.  He’s a 24-year-old graphic artist from Malaysia (yes, you read that right… isn’t God AMAZING?!).  So far we’ve done 4 covers together, each is more beautiful than the last.  To see them all, click here (and you can vote on which is your favorite).  The one for Cowboy was done by another friend of mine.  Aki’s covers are:

Deep in the Heart

Dreams by Starlight

Reunion

If You Believed in Love

I wish I had time to just sit and look at them all day!  Thanks, Aki!

Secondly, as you can see by the above post, I have a new website for my romance novels.  Over there, you can read the first chapter of every book, as well as excerpts, reviews, and thoughts on the titles.  Enjoy and share!

Finally, February has been quite a month.  Coming Undone hit the #1 spot in Religious Fiction and Religion & Inspirational on Amazon.  Cowboy hit the #9 spot in Top-Rated Religious Fiction.

Thank you all for being on this journey with me!  I’m so grateful for all of you!

Staci

A New Chapter Begins

August 5, 2011

By:  Staci Stallings

Many of you have been with me on this writing journey for a long time now.  Some have been here from the beginning.  A few of you have even read my books out of binders, printed by me.

Along the way, you have encouraged me, supported me, and helped me.  Some of you have even contributed to stories through the wisdom and life lessons you’ve shared with me.

For all of those things, please let me say, Thank you so much!  I could not be here without you!

Over the course of this amazing journey, the river has taken many twists I did not see coming.

Dennis was one of those twists.  Dennis came into my life when giving up on the writing seemed preferable to pressing on.  He stayed and he encouraged, and then he moved on… to a life of peace and hope in Heaven itself.

Last night I was fiddling around with my blog trying to get some new things to work, and I hit a button that brought up a “random” post.  It was the last one Dennis posted on Spirit Light before he went in for the knee surgery.  The last  two sentences he wrote were, “Be nice to Staci during my absence.  Thank you.”  I still feel a warm sense of his protection and love when I read that.  He was always looking out for me like a big brother or a guardian angel–always with humor but with noted respect and seriousness as well.  And he loved all of you as well.

The care and excitement he had for the people who read his words was indescribable.  He loved our Lord so much, and he was so honored to get to share that love with all of you.  In fact, upon his death, it was that vision that kept me going.  I did not want to let the connection between Heaven and earth that he had helped me forge disintegrate.  What happened instead was that the connection seemed to grow stronger and more “territory” was added to what God was giving me.

During our time on earth together, Dennis and I “revised” the Prayer of Jabez.  I still have our revision on my wall.  It says simply, “Enlarge my territory according to Your Will, Lord, and let me do it in love…”  We prayed that prayer often, asking for God’s guiding hand on our lives as we pressed out of our comfort zones into territory God had laid out for us to claim for Him. I don’t think either of us ever felt worthy of this undertaking, and we did a lot of falling at the feet of Jesus for His wisdom as to what to speak into the lives He sent to us.

Since Dennis’s death, I have felt his continued presence in my life–especially in those times when God is moving to expand my life into territory that I would be crazy to go into without Him.  That’s why reading Dennis’s final message to all of you was so very poignant for me.

In this last week, God has been planting seeds in my life that make me a little nervous but very excited for just where this thing is going.

First, He brought a woman and her daughter into my life who are giving me the tools to break out in a big way into the world of Kindles and Nook.  I’d always wanted to do this and had already dipped a toe into those waters.  But these two are phenomenal angels sent straight from Heaven to pave the way in this venture.

Then God dropped a man into my life that has been through the how-to’s of promoting Kindle and Nooks for a year or so.  He’s made the mistakes and figured out what works.  His advice and guidance was absolutely a Godsend.

Finally, God sent a wonderful woman who has been in my life as a mentor, a guide, and a friend for nearly 10 years now.  She has expertise in an area that I will really need going forward.

So, the “arrival” of Dennis back in my life last night felt like a sign that, “Yes, God is serious about this, but never fear, dear Staci, He has everything in hand.  Just trust Him like you taught me to do.  I’ll be watching as the dream we always knew was out there begins to come to fruition.”

As I begin this new and exciting chapter of my life, I wanted to take this opportunity to thank all of you for your support and encouragement!  I could not have made it this far without each of you!  And I thank you, sincerely, for your love and grace!

In gratitude, I would like to extend the following offer to each of you, my loyal readers:
